The Museum Roundtable (MR) is an initiative led by the National Heritage Board (NHB) and consists of more than 50 member museums in Singapore.

Each museum is independently operated by its own team outside of NHB. It is easy to appreciate the challenge in coordinating and communicating updates and events across more than 50 independently operated museums.

Conversion Hub won a competitive tender to become the platform developer and provide training and support for the new MR portal.

The contract required Conversion Hub to design, develop and implement a seamless IT system covering portal content management, digital resource management and end user access facilities.

When the MR portal development started, the original intention was to have a 'big bang' approach with the entire platform capability delivered to the public and MR members as one single implementation.

As the programme advanced, however, it became obvious how difficult this would be to achieve. By working together, Conversion Hub and NHB re-evaluated and prioritised requirements.

The original contract was renegotiated to enable an accelerated phased implementation that delivered manageable components of the programme to deliver benefits progressively.

The introduction of the MR Portal has dramatically reduced the amount of paperwork handled by NHB, increasing the availability of up to date, reliable and accurate information organisation-wide and freeing staff to work more productively.

The MR portal has developed an excellent reputation within the MR community. As a result, the scope of engagement with NHB has expanded to include yearly campaign micro-sites as well as digital engagement.
